The recent wildfires in California devastated 40,000 acres, destroyed more than 3,000 homes and caused more than 30,000 residents to evacuate the affected areas. Tinder dry conditions in the state have caused fires to become a very real danger this fall.

Now, from NASA's Aqua satellite we have imagery of the fires as seen from space.  The images clearly show smoke from the fires stretching out well into the Pacific Ocean.
