After an absolutely beautiful weekend, we are looking at some changes in the weather as we head into midweek. Some scattered thunderstorms have already swept across the metro area bringing a touch of rain and blustery conditions. Those have since moved further east onto the plains.
The low pressure system that has moved in will primarily be east of the Front Range, near Kansas and Nebraska, so the Front Range most likely won’t see a lot of excitement. Unfortunately we just aren’t seeing a lot of upslope and that will limit development of moisture and snow in particular.
Tuesday evening scattered rain showers will redevelop through midnight. After that there will be a chance for snow but the limiting factor again will be a lack of upslope and the fact the temperatures aren’t going to drop all that far. We’ll call it a 30% chance for thunderstorms this evening and a 40% chance of rain / snow after midnight in Denver. There may be some accumulation on grassy areas if it does snow but it won’t be significant. Those along a line from the Palmer Divide to Limon stand a better chance of seeing the white stuff.
Overnight lows in Denver will drop to 30 degrees tonight. Heading into Wednesday there is a slight chance for showers before noon as we reach a high of 48 degrees. Wednesday night we will dip a good ways below freezing to around 24 degrees so be sure you have prepared your house and any outdoor plants accordingly.
