![]() According to NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C., June 2008 was the 27th warmest June on record since 1895. The average nationwide June temperature of 70.4 degrees F, was 1.1 degrees above the 20th century mean. Some of the highlights of the report include: June temps were warmer than average across much of the southern and eastern states while Colorado was near normal. Nine states were much warmer than average, and 23 were warmer than average.
Excessive precipitation in the midwest caused many problems including flooding in Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois and Missouri. Iowa had their second wettest June ever. Iowa, Ohio, and Missouri had their wettest ever January - June period. 17 states, including Colorado, had below normal precipitation.
