In an effort to save Bostonians some extra cash this holiday season, Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino  will begin selling thousands of half-price tickets to Boston's favorite holiday events, showcasing free and low-cost celebrations around the City, and centralizing hundreds of discounts for dining, shopping, overnight stays and even parking.

"I invite residents and visitors to bring their families into the city to enjoy a show, holiday shopping, a festive meal, a stroll through the holiday lights, an overnight stay, and even a skate on The Frog Pond," said Mayor Menino. "MayorsHolidaySpecial.com is the ticket to a great Boston experience and memories you'll cherish for a lifetime."

Visitors to www.MayorsHolidaySpecial.com will find deals and holiday gift ideas as they plan their complete Boston holiday experience. Discounts include 20 percent off hotel stays and dinner entrees, free access to shopping discount passes, and low, flat parking rates. The program will run through Jan. 18, 2010, a month longer than in previous years.

Limited quantities of half-priced tickets and convenient access to full-price tickets will be available to the following shows: The Huntington's "A Civil War Christmas: An American Musical Celebration," Boston Ballet's "Nutcracker," Holiday Pops, Handel & Haydn Society, "Black Nativity" and dozens more. MayorsHolidaySpecial.com also provides a complete guide to beloved Boston holiday traditions, such as the Tree Lightings, Skating on the Frog Pond and the Macy's Enchanted Trolley Tour.

Mayor Menino and the Mayor's Office of Arts, Tourism & Special Events will present this free service in collaboration with ArtsBoston and its year-round, half-price arts box office, BosTix, and many partners. A complete list of participating organizations, events, and deals are available at MayorsHolidaySpecial.com. Businesses and organizations are invited to add their own discounts and events to the listings by visiting the site immediately.
