Seven people were arrested this past Saturday after taking part in an anti-war demonstration aimed at shutting down a military recruitment center at Philadelphia's Franklin Mills Mall, according to Kotaku and Gamepolitics.com. The recruitment center, known as the "U.S. Army Experience", uses high end P.C. and console gaming technology to attract potential recruits. According to protesters, the games used by the center glorify, trivialize, and misrepresent the dangers of warfare, as well as the obligations of military life.

The demonstration itself was largely peaceful, consisting of about a hundred people who marched on the mall singing anti-war songs and chanting "war is not a game, close the A.E.C.(Army Experience Center). Problems with police only arose when certain individuals began wearing masks that hid their entire faces. After being ordered to remove the masks or disperse, and subsequently refusing, they were arrested. This was likely their intent, as activists often seek arrest in order to make a symbolic point. Some counterprotesters showed up with their own sound system to attempt to drown out the marchers, but no confrontations of any kind were reported.
