Chris Devlin moved to Seattle from San Francisco in 2005. After a year of whining about the weather, he discovered the city's beer community. He's been drinking and blogging about it ever since. Some say he's obsessed with beer. He did try 375 beers in 2007 and spends all his vacation time on beer travels. You can find more of his writing at The Beer Retard.

Busy Summer For Elysian

July 22, 10:51 AM
by Chris Devlin, Seattle Beer Examiner

It's been a busy summer for Seattle's Elysian Brewing. Last month, they unveiled their beers at the Blind Tiger Ale House in New York to celebrate the availability of Elysian kegs and bottles in Manhattan and Brooklyn. In September, the brewery will start shipping beer to California and have an event at San Francisco's Toronado to mark the occasion.

To meet the needs of their new markets, Elysian announced a partnership with Colorado's New Belgium Brewing last Friday. The deal allows the breweries to use each other's brewhouses while remaining independently-owned. New Belgium will utilize Elysian's facilities to brew more small-batch, experimental beers (such as the Lips of Faith series, which includes the recent Le Fleur Misseur), while Elysian will be able to brew larger batches of their flagship beers (such as the Immortal IPA, Wise ESB and Perseus Porter) in New Belgium's big Fort Collins space. This will give Elysian the ability to have enough beer to cover New York, California and beyond. Sounds like a good deal for both breweries and a bonus for Seattle beer drinkers, who'll get first crack at some of New Belgium's creations.

In addition to all these developments, Elysian's TangleTown brewpub is having a Christmas in July celebration this Wednesday. So if you're in the mood to drink anti-seasonally, you'll find the following beers on tap at 5 pm tomorrow:

Elysian Bifrost Winter Ale
Elysian Bye Bye Frost
Sierra Nevada Celebration
Brasserie Dupont Avec les Bon Voeux (2 vintages)
Gouden Carolus Noel
Delirium Noel
St Feuillien Cuvee de Noel
