Precious, the powerful new drama based on the Sapphire novel "Push," was the big winner at the box office over the weekend.  The movie earned $1.8 million, which is an incredible feat considering the small drama played in just 18 theaters nation-wide.

Precious is about an overweight teenage girl in Harlem who suffers horrifying abuse at the hands of her parents.  The movie stars newcomer Gabourey Sidibe in the lead role, with standout supporting performances by Mariah Carey, Mo'Nique, and Paula Patton.
