While previous reports suggested that Lil' Wayne would plea guilty and serve eight months in jail, the Associated Press now states that Wayne expects to receive a one-year jail sentence.

Lil Wayne, 27, pleaded guilty to attempted possession of a weapon in the second degree, sparing him a possible 3 1/2-to-7-year prison sentence.

Wayne, born Dwayne Carter, remains free on bail as he awaits his February sentencing.

Wayne joins the long list of rappers who will have spent time in jail.  Recently, Shyne was released from prison, while T.I remains behind bars and Lil' Boosie's time as a free man nears its end.
