
In a message to the membership of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology on their website, President-Elect and Program Chair Sami L. Bahna, MD stated that " Food allergy has become a more important topic than ever before".
The XIII International Food Allergy Symposium started on Thursday, November 5th and runs through the 10th in Miami Beach, FL. Meetings are scheduled on every aspect of food allergy, co-chaired by Alessandro Fiocchi, MD, FACAAI, of the Melloni University Hospital in Italy, and Amal H. Assa'ad, MD, of the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Per the ACAAI announcement, the program provides cutting-edge information on the basic and clinical aspects of food allergy pathogenesis, prediction, prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
The meeting program indicates lectures on cross-reactivity, interpretation of serologic tests, and diagnosis and treatment of Eosinophilic Gastro Intestinal Disorder. Additional sessions cover how to instruct patients with food allergies what they can eat, new and old Chinese herbal treatments for food allergy, new immunotherapy treatments, and presentations with the cutting edge of food allergy research.
Industry experts will discuss common unproven allergy procedures, tips on influencing federal legislators and current issues in physician accountability in "Current Challenges for Allergists." The symposium also plans to unveil a variety of symposia highlighting breakthrough pharmacological discoveries and include discussions on anaphylaxis, drug hypersensitivity, the environment and hereditary angioedema.
