Halloween fun for the entire family

On October 24, 2009 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, the Honan-Allston branch of the BPL will be hosting a Halloween Party. Come in costume for games, crafts, story time and other kid friendly activities. This event is free and refreshments will be served. Also on October 24, the Lower Mills branch of the Boston Public Library (BPL) invites you and your family to join them for pumpkin carving at 12:30 PM. Pumpkins will be provided and registration is required to ensure that there are enough pumpkins for those attending. Can't make this event? The Lower Mills library will also be hosting a Halloween Party on October 29 at 6:00 pm. There will be games, scary decorations and prizes for the best costumes.

In Boston's North End you can enjoy the Madonna Della Cava Halloween Parade on October 24, 2009 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Hanover and Battery Streets. There will be food, games and raffles, and music will be provided by the Roma Band.

On Friday October 30, 2009 the North End branch of the BPL will have two showings of Wallace and Gromit's spooky silly adventure Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Showings are at 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm. At 3:30 pm there will be Halloween events at the Connolly Library in Hyde Park and the Egleston Square Library. A the Connolly Halloween activities will be followed by a parade through Hyde Square to Mozart Park where you'll be able to show off your favorite Halloween costume. At the Egleston Square branch of the BPL they will be having a spooky story hour followed by scary craft making. Also in Hyde Park from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm there will be a Halloween event in St. Anne's Parking Lot on Como Rd. This event is free and open to children of all ages. Also on October 30 from 3:00 pm - 6:00pm, there will be a Halloween Carnival for children 4 - 6 years of age at  Latino/a Student Cultural Center (Northeastern University). Children can have their faces painted, decorate caramel apples and pumpkins, explore a haunted house and more. Then on Halloween day at the Dudley branch of the BPL, you can create a hanging Halloween pumpkin. Once again registration is required for this event. Also on Halloween day you can attend Boo Bash. Taking place at the Strand Theater in Dorchester, Boo Bash includes a haunted house, costume, scary movie, a sing along and treats, and will take place from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm.

In the South End at Ringgold Park the Friends of Ringgold Park will host a Halloween Party on October 31 starting at 4:30 pm. There will be cider and savory treats as well as a Jack O'Lantern Contest and a Costume Parade. To participate in the Jack O'Lantern Contest, please bring your carved pumpkin to the party. At the Titus Sparrow Park children can attend the Pre-Trick-Or-Treat Halloween Party from 5:00pm to 6:00 pm. Come see Benjamin the clown, show off your costume and eat pizza and home-baked treats.
