![]() Tuesday, May 27 at 7pm, Denver-based Listen Productions hosts a small advanced screening at Globeville Studios (635 Santa Fe in Denver) of the feature film "A Test of Wills" written by celebrated actor William Hahn and starring an A-list cast of Denver performers. The cast includes William Hahn ("Best Actor in a Drama, 2003"- The Denver Post), Heidi Morrow Hahn, Karen Slack ("Best Season by an Actress, 2007"- The Denver Post), Chris Kendall ("Merry Wives of Windsor" at the Denver Center Theatre Company) and Melinda Smart ("Cabaret" at Town Hall Arts Center, "Generosity"). Mitch Dickman, founder of Listen Productions, directed. The film follows Will- a discontented construction worker (William Hahn) whose dull, unfulfilled life is rocked by a porn video clip on his computer beckoning him to realize his quest to write. Will's real and subconscious worlds come crashing together as his disappointed wife, curmudgeonly coworker, slovenly self image, acerbic superego and dim-witted fantasy girl battle for influence over him. Listen made an impressive launch last fall with a Wild West live production of "Macbeth" (starring Hahn and Slack). The play did remarkably at the box office and garnered six Denver Post award nominations- more than any other production! Dickman says "A Test of Wills" was the next natural project for Listen. "Bill [Hahn] handed me this funny, gritty, surreal screenplay and asked if I'd like to direct it. The script was so damn strong, I decided I'd not only direct it, but produce it, too. It's a perfect fit for Listen, for my aesthetic and for the quirky sense of humor of the indie movie audience." This is Dickman's feature film directorial debut, but the 25 year-old is already established professionally in the industry, having worked on over ten feature films. As a director, he has myriad short films under his belt, a number of industrials, and television spots for Free Speech and Denver Open Media. His short film "Mortar" was an official selection of the 2006 Denver International Film Festival. Dickman recently returned directing the indie travel television show "Off the Radar" in Honduras |
