November 22, 2009 -- The Larry King Live show on Friday November 20, had the final three contestants of Dancing with the Stars who talked about the physical ramifications the reality TV show's demands from their bodies.
Injuries on Dancing with the Stars has been pretty severe this year. Of the three finalists, two will be dancing with injuries come Monday night.
Donny Osmond broke a toe even though the commensurate performer has managed to hide this very well on two prior shows. Meanwhile, Kelly Osbourne suffers serious bunions that need surgery immediately following Tuesday's show. Her pain is so intense that for the last several performances Kelly's doctor prescribed numbing shots to allow her feet to dance.
Prior contestants on Dancing with the Stars season 9 are also slated for surgery while some have required medical attention after they were eliminated.
Several weeks ago, model Kathy Ireland told her fans that she had been scheduled for surgery for a knee issue. Ireland never disclosed the details.
Tom Delay suffered so much pain in both feet earlier in the season that he ended up prematurely quitting the competition.
While stars rigorously train for weeks prior to Dancing with the Stars, apparently something else needs to be done to further the process. It is necessary to find ways to reduce injuries so these celebrities suffer less and have more of a chance to compete throughout competition, all with the hopes of holding the mirror trophy ball when Dancing with the Stars ends for the season instead of having to rest in a hospital bed.
