November 16, 2009 - Bruce Springsteen probably wishes he never got out of bed on Friday, November 13th to get to his latest gig in Michigan. The flawless performances on his most recent tour with the E Street Band earned amazing write-ups with fans and music critics alike, all offering nothing but praise.
But that was before Bruce made it to Michigan.
Never late for a performance, The Boss did get to the right stage -- but he kept saying the wrong name of the city where he was playing. It seems Springsteen completely forgot he was in Michigan and actually said, "Hello Ohio!" several times during a 30-minute period. Finally, an E Street guitarist let the singer know they were playing in, uh, Michigan.
Fans have been writing online about the sad state of Springsteen's geography mistakes in Michigan on Friday. But come on. Although we have all gone to and enjoyed concerts where performers scream into the microphone "Hello {name of city here]" -- resulting in the loud roar of fans screaming and cheering -- given all the preparation and promotion bands endure as they travel from town to town, it isn't surprising that, once in a while, one place can easily be mistaken for another.
So, no real harm on this foul, Bruce. Springsteen is still The Boss no matter where in the world he thinks he is performing. from town to town.
