There's a benefit concert going on tomorrow at the Park Tavern from 2 to 11pm. This annual event is not for tee-totalers, as the name implies. The 5th Annual Beer and Whiskeyfest is an end-of-summer blow-out, featuring 4 tribute bands, with a DJ spinning between the bands' sets, food and drink (of course!) and a silent auction. Why does this event belong at the top of this page? Because it's a benefit for PAWS Atlanta! Buy tickets online in advance for $10 or at the event for $15.
Speaking of PAWS Atlanta, if you're taking your dog to Bark in the Park at Turner Field tomorrow afternoon to see the Braves take on Cincinnati, be on the lookout for Victoria Stilwell. She'll be there signing autographs, plus casting directors will be on the lookout for dogs and their families to star in upcoming episodes of "It's Me or the Dog."
If you're not into baseball but want to audition, Head for Glamour Paws of Atlanta Sunday from 1:30 to 4:30. Casting crew from "It's Me or the Dog" will be there, looking to help dogs with issues become better citizens.
Canine Ph.D Dog Training is offering a series of classes that dog-park afficianados should like. A Play and Obey class starts Tuesday evening in the Inman Park Village Shops. This class is designed to help owners have better control of their dogs while playing in off-leash dog parks. The ability of your dog to have good attention on you, even without a leash, is vital for your dog's safety if an altercation breaks out. Visit this page to download the registration information.
Have a safe and fun-filled Labor Day weekend!
