During the hottest part of the summer, outdoor dog events slow down because of the danger of heat stroke. But there are still things to do with your dog or for your dog, and most of them are family-friendly, too.
Tanglewood Farms is celebrating the dog days of summer with a festival featuring their big stock dog, Choupo. Choupo is a rare breed of livestock guardian dog from Portugal. The Estrela Mountain Dog's job is to keep all of the other animals at Tanglewood Farms safe, and he does a great job. Visitors can have pony rides, check out the petting zoo, play games for prizes and tour the wild west town. Call 770-667-6464 for more information.
If you're grieving over the death of your dog, or know someone who is, Atlanta Humane Society's Mend-A-Heart counseling session today at 11am might be just what the Dog-ter ordered. The cost is $5 per person and the session lasts an hour.
Hotel Indigo continues its popular Canine Coctail Hour on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8. Take your dog and get set to socialize in style.
Atlanta Obedience Club's next session of classes begins on August 17th, so now is the time to sign up. Obedience classes are a fun way for you and your dog to gain a deeper understanding of each other and build a lasting, trusting relationship, all while helping your dog understand how to be better-behaved in this big world.
