This weekend, a throwdown is going on in Milledgeville, GA.  Dixie Dock Dogs is hosting the Fishing Creek Outfitters Throwdown, with dock-diving all day today and tomorrow. This event benefits Chase Away K9 Cancer, and there are fabulous baskets up for raffle, filled with hundreds of dollars worth of great dog-related prizes.  Take your water-loving dog and see if they have what it takes to be a dock-diving dog, but be careful - this sport is addictive, and you and your dog could end up being the newest members of Dixie Dock Dogs.  Full information, including driving directions, is on the event website.  Load up your family and friends, including the furry ones, and make a day or a weekend of fun and memories.

Sunday from noon to 5, stop by Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta for the Second Annual AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day to benefit ATSAR, Alpha Team K9 Search and Rescue.  There's fun and learning for the whole family, including Hug-A-Tree presentations so small children know what to do if they get lost, games and contests, many different kiinds of K9 demonstrations, AKC Canine Good Citizen tests, STAR evaluations, a dog wash, a huge yard sale, silent auction and lots more.  If you remember the story of the UGA professor who killed his wife and others at an Athens theatre, then you remember that it was search and rescue teams who found the professor's body.  It wasn't just any search and rescue teams, it was ATSAR teams.  Please be generous in your support of this event and group - they do great work at great personal expense and sacrifice.

Also tomorrow, Dogma Dog Care in Smyrna is hosting two pet first aid classes, one at 11am and one at 3pm.  Call 770-436-4346 to sign up, or email.

Next Sunday, September 6, take your misbehaving furry friend to Glamour Paws of Atlanta for a casting call with Victoria Stilwell of "It's Me or the Dog."  Auditions will be held from 1:30 to 4:30.
