One of the fastest-growing dog sports is Canine Musical Freestyle, or dancing with your dog.  It's a sport open to anyone who wants to have a fun, positive training experience with their dog and take it just a little further - into performing with their dog.

Basic obedience is more than just teaching your dog to sit, walk nicely on a lead, and stay.  Basic obedience classes teach you how to teach your dog, and they teach your dog how to learn.  Many people think that obedience training is only for those who want to compete for titles, but truly, this class is the foundation to having a great relationship with your dog.  Everyone with a dog should take at least one session of obedience training, and often people get hooked.  Watching those bright eyes learn is addictive, and deepening an already good relationship into a great one is fulfilling for you both.

In the Atlanta Area Dog Clubs resource box on the right is a list of area clubs offering obedience classes.  There are many other dog training businesses in and around Atlanta where you and your dog can train.  And once you've gone through the classes and you've both built a good training foundation, maybe the Canine Musical Freestyle bug will bite you, too.  For a little background and a cute performance, check out this video from abcnews.com
