It's a sad but true fact: dogs don't live long enough to suit the humans who love them. Everyone who's ever owned an old dog has struggled with knowing whether their dog was "just getting old" or had a disease process that needed treating. And most have struggled with the agonizing question - how to know when it's time to lovingly let go and euthanize an ailing furry friend.
Georgia Veterinary Specialists, a 24 hour emergency clinic for pets, is also home to over two dozen board-certified specialists in departments like oncology, nutrition, neurology and cardiology. These specialists often see geriatric dogs and so know all about the special needs of the older furry friends. And they've all been asked for guidance on knowing when to say "when" while treating those older patients.
Because they see the need for education, several of the staff at GVS have put together a two-hour, free seminar on caring for aging and ailing pets. The seminar will cover:
Drs. Nick Berryessa and Susan Wynne will lead the discussions, and Robin Chisolm-Seymour, M.Ed. will address loss and grieving.
The seminar is on Saturday, July 18 from 10am to noon, and is free. Seating is limited, so early registration is strongly encouraged, so you don't miss this very important information about end-of-life issues for your dog.
To register for the seminar or to get answers to any questions you may have, please contact Kimberly DeMeza at 404-459-0903 or email her.
