The Greater Atlanta Labrador Retriever Club is hosting a Specialty show at Jim R. Miller Park both days this weekend. 175 Labradors will be strutting their stuff in the covered arena, with classes starting at 9am on Saturday and 8:30am on Sunday.

The Bulldog Club of Metropolitan Atlanta is hosting a Specialty show both days this weekend at the Holiday Inn Select near Perimeter Mall. 75 Bulldogs are entered in this show, so if you're a fan of UGA, see his breed up close and personal. Judging starts at 9am on Saturday and at 8am on Sunday, so get there early if you’d like to see all the fun.

The Greater Atlanta Australian Shepherd Club is hosting an agility trial this weekend at the Bartow County Saddle Club in Cartersville. The athletes start running their courses at 8am, and continue most of the day both days.

Saturday evening, the first annual Golden Gala Golden Lovers is happening at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center, honoring 1500 Goldens that have been saved by Adopt-A-Golden Atlanta. You can meet Paul Ossmann from 11 Alive, and his sweet new Golden pup, Doppler the Weather Dog. It’s too late to buy tickets, according to the club website, so be on the lookout for great photos of the event coming soon.

You might remember that the Georgia SPCA shelter in Suwanee ran into some financial difficulties a couple of months ago. Thanks to the community, this valuable asset to Georgia pets is still running, and there's a silent auction of 35-40 items, including donated artwork, jewelry and wine to benefit the shelter tonight. The event is from 6 to 8pm tonight at Vboggs Galleries in Suwanee. Admission is free, but an RSVP is required - call 770-271-8448 or email . The Georgia SPCA takes in and places homeless dogs and cats.

This coming Wednesday evening from 5 to 7, there's a wine tasting to benefit Meals Fur Pets at the Marietta Wine Market, just off of historic Marietta Square. The wines will be from the Maddelena Winery, one of California's most popular family-owned vintners. Sample the wines and learn about Meals Fur Pets. The cost to participate is a donation to the charity, so grab your friends and gulp for a great cause.
