Like to do things on the weekend with your dog?  You're in the right place.  Every weekend this column will feature the dog events for that weekend and the upcoming week, along with helpful links for more information.

Live in Cobb County and want to make therapy visits to seniors & health care facilities with your dog?  Happy Tails Pet Therapy is screening volunteers today and this Thursday at Mount Bethel Christian Academy, 4385 Lower Roswell Rd., Marietta, GA 30068.  Stop by today from 10:30 to 11:30 or Thursday between 7:30 and 8:30pm.  This is an informational meeting, and is for humans only, please.  For more information, call 770-740-8211 or visit the Happy Tails website here

Sunday afternoon from 1 to 4, PAWS Atlanta is offering a low-cost vaccination clinic with discounted shots, heartworm preventative and other services.  If you need to have your dog spayed or neutered, tomorrow is the day to sign up for discounted surgery, too.  PAWS Atlanta is at 5287 Covington Highway, Decatur, GA 30035.  For more information, call 770-593-1155 or visit the PAWS Atlanta website here

Coming up this Wednesday, Beagle fanciers are gathering just south of Dallas, GA on Mt. Tabor Rd. for a field trial.  Call Jeanne Matthews, trial secretary, at (770) 445-2807 for more information.  Complete information about Beagle field trials can be found on the AKC website here

On Thursday, 1/8, the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Atlanta is also hosting a field trial, this one at Luke Weaver's Farm in Jackson, GA.  Information about this field trial can be obtained from the trial secretary Carol Simmons at (770)967-2105.  Complete information about field trials for pointing breeds can be found on the AKC website here

If you know of upcoming dog events, please email me with the information.  It's my goal to make this page a one-stop shop for all things dog in Atlanta and north Georgia.
