He is the author of three Japanese edition books on Ichiro Suzuki and three screenplays. He lives in Sammamish with his family and recently became a first-time grandfather to twins.

Analyst Tim McCarver brings up Milwaukee 2002 for the first time. He offers, "is it premature to bring up 2002?'' No. It should have been brought up as the teams headed into extra innings with a handful of short relievers remaining.

A camera shows Commissioner Bud Selig in a private box looking absolutely ashen.

The fact that the AL escaped trouble in both the ninth and 10th, makes this game even more intriguing.

ELEVENTH: Another AL pitcher is used, Joakim Soria. He allows a leadoff single but gets out of it without further trouble. . . . there is pressure on both All-Star managers because they don't want to be accused of abusing a pitcher because he works him too long. That's a issue, even as camera's show Brandon Webb. . .Ian Kinsler leads off the 11th with a single. But Terry Francona elects not to sacrifice bunt him over to second, figuring he could have Kinsler steal second. NL manager Clint Hurdle figured the same thing, using a pitchout to throw Kinsler out at second. Replays show Miguel Tejada's sweep tag touched only air. Brandon Webb headed to the bullpen. Dioner Navarro follows with a walk then J.D. Drew singles to center, building his MVP portfolio. . . . Russell Martin makes a great short hop catch and tag at home plate to prevent the winning run - Navarro - from scoring. This game is bordering on a classic and the stomach of Selig - along with a couple managers - must be churning.
