It was only a matter of time until FOX's long-running TV juggernaut The Simpsons revisited the world of flesh-eating Zombies for their annual scarefest, "The Treehouse of Horrors."
Perhaps taking their cue from the current pop-culture obsession with the undead, the writers for the show used the second of three self-contained segments during last nights episode for a Zombie-centric skit entitled, "Don't Have a Cow, Mankind." The plot centered on a Springfield localized Zombie apocalypse brought on by eating Krustyburgers made from cows that were forced to eat other cows (take that Beef industry!). The outbreak starts with Kent Brockman, and then flashes forward 28 days later (get it) to when almost everyone but the beloved Simpson clan has become one of the dreaded "Munchers." Needless to say, but brain-munching and Zombie hilarity ensues. For those not fortunate enough to catch this pop-culture smashup during it's original airing, the entire episode can be viewed below:
This isn't the first time The Simpsons have tackled Zombies in all of their brutal glory either. Fans of the show most likely remember that "Treehouse of Horrors III" also included a segment dedicated to our favorite Halloween baddies. In that episode, entitled "Dial Z for Zombie," a majority of the residents (and pets) from Springfield are turned Zombies after Bart tries to raise their cat Snowball from the dead using a book of black magic he finds in their library's occult section. Great fun and good laughs from a TV show with an apparent love of the undead!
