Wake Forest QB Riley Skinner has been recovering from a concussion he sustained late in last week's loss to Miami. Skinner practiced Wednesday and Thursday, and his status has been upgraded to "probable."
If Skinner actually plays, it's a bad thing for Tech. Skinner is completing 65.6 percent of his passes and is particularly adept at throwing short to intermediate routes, which can exploit Tech's less-than-stellar tackling.
Wake might be 4-5, but the Deacs' short passing game, slippery receivers, and zone read running plays have the potential to give the Jackets a big headache. Remember that Tech has been awful against the zone read...just ask Mississippi State and Vanderbilt. Still, Wake is 63rd in the nation in rushing defense and 62nd in total defense. Uh oh. Look for Tech to serve up a big helping of Dwyer with a side of Nesbitt, followed by a huge plate of "Get out of my way" from Anthony Allen and Roddy Jones.
Keys to the game: Tech cannot turn the ball over, because Wake Forest has the ability to chew up clock and keep the Tech offense off the field. Wake Forest allows 2.44 sacks per game (which is terrible) so Derrick Morgan and Anthony Egbuniwe need to bring the heat. Also, Tech's defense must not miss tackles after Wake's receivers catch the ball underneath.
