Topic of Discussion:
Participants will learn about the diverse services provided by VistaCare and their work with the chronically disabled who because of their illness or chronic condition need support to remain at home. Special emphasis will be placed on how one qualifies for services, the diversity of support VistaCare is able to provide (including home health care, direct medical assistance, assist in securing available community services, proper medical referrals, etc) and how an Advanced Directive can be helpful. Dr. Robert Friedman is considered an expert in his field of practice and his ability to convey pertinent information is noteworthy.
Dr. Friedman serves as the Medical Director for VistaCare in Austin. Dr. Friedman's career reflects over 20 years of practicing as a full service Family Practitioner which included the management of patients in a long term care setting. During the last 10 years he has gained valuable expertise as a Medical Director and Consulting Physician in the area of Hospice and Palliative Care. For over 20 years, Dr. Friedman has been educating nurses and physicians on a variety of professional topics and is frequently invited to share with the public on an array of topics pertinent to their healthcare. Dr. Friedman enjoys spending time with patients and their families and as an active team member he is committed to providing hands-on care in the home setting. Dr. Friedman's credentials include the following:
* Diplomate American Board of Family Medicine
* Fellow American Academy of Family Practice
* Diplomate American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine
* Member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
