
Another person has thrown their hat into the ring for the District 17 Indiana Senate Seat. His name is Jim Banks. He currently holds the position of Councilman for Whitley County and heads the Whitley County Republican party. His full time job is listed as Director of Business Development for the Hagerman Group, a construction company headquartered in Fort Wayne, IN.
He has earned his Bachelor's in Political Science and has worked for Congressman Hostettler. His activism in the community is noted well. He is active in the Columbia City Rotary Club, Whitley County Gideons and Whitley County Historical Society. In addition, he serves or has recently served on boards including Northeast Indiana Workforce Development, Region 3A, Builders and Contractors Association Government Affairs Committee and Allen County Right to Life.
The real passion in his life is his are his wife, Amanda, and his daughter, Lillian.
His main issues are taxes:never voted for a tax increase, elimination of the death tax, and installing property tax caps. Economy and employment: work with colleges to educate for the jobs of tomorrow and working with economic development boards. Education: the availability for more choices in education for parents, awards for teachers based on achievement, and will direct more tax dollars to the classroom with less for administration.
He is a staunch conservative that believes in Constitutional rights and life over choice.
He has recently appointed Bill Konyha as his campaign chairman. Mr. Konyha is a leader in Wabash County's economic development.
Mr. Banks will be at Huntington University on Tuesday, October 27th, at 7pm, for a town hall meeting. This meeting will include all candidates for the District 17 Senate seat .
