Recently 120 people gathered on Crete at the Orthodox Academy there to have a number of in-depth ecumenical conversations. Aimee Moiso, an alumnae of San Francisco Theological Seminary, was one of those in attendance at this meeting, and blogged about the entire experience here on the Santa Clara University webpage.
I was aware of this before now, but I wanted to point it all out when the blog was complete so that it would tell a story from beginning to end. The three topics which were discussed were: what it means to be the Church, including consideration of a draft of The Nature and Mission of the Church, put together by the World Council of Churches; second was a discussion of sources of authority by way of telling individual stories and looking at how members of each Christian community use Scripture and tradition; and finally moral discernment, or how the Church makes moral choices.
What one gets from the blog is a single view of what was doubtless a singular experience. What I liked about something like this event in Crete being blogged was that one gets a description with all of the color and subjectivity intact.
Anyway, I think the blog is worth taking a look at, and if it piques your interest in further ecumenical work, all the better.
