Adrian Monk never put "endings" on his list of 312 different phobias, and that's a good thing for USA Networks and the popular crime drama Monk. The series debuted its eighth and final season on August 7, 2009 with the episode titled "Mr. Monk's Favorite Show".
Adrian Monk, played by Golden Globe, Emmy, and SAG award winner Tony Shalhoub, is a former detective for the San Fransisco police department with an extreme case of obsessive compulsive disorder. With the help of his assistant, Natalie Teeger, played by Traylor Howard, Monk comically solves any case that Captain Leland Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) and and Lieutenant Randall "Randy" Disher (Jason Gray-Stanford) throw at him.
Like many television shows out there, Monk has reached a high point in it's prime-time run, and that is why the decision has been made to make the eighth season the last. Fans have nothing to worry about though, as the eighth season promises to answer questions that previous seasons have proposed. One things fans can expect to see this season is the return of Bitty Schram as Sharona Fleming, Monk's assistant through the first two and a half seasons.
Producers of the show are still keeping one thing under wraps: Will Monk finally solve his wife Trudy's murder? The debate is high among message boards and fan blogs, and one thing that is for certain is that the issue will be addressed before the show ends. Whether or not it will be solved is something viewers will just have to tune in to see.
