Here are some final thoughts and predictions for UFC 103:

Lightweight Contest: Rob Emerson (10-7-0, 1 NC) vs. Rafael Dos Anjos (11-4)

Originally Dos Anjos was scheduled to fight Matt Wiman, but Wiman suffered a knee injury during camp and Emerson stepped up to replace him. Both these fighters are coming off tough losses,
Emerson fell victim to a rear naked choke courtesy of Kurt Pellegrino back in February. Dos Anjos lost the decision against Tyson Griffin in April. Emerson has displayed in the past that he has good takedown defense which could possibly limit Dos Anjos jiu-jitsu.

Prediction: Emerson via TKO

Light Heavyweight Contest: Vladimir Matyushenko (22-4-0) vs. Igor Pokrajac (21-5-0)
This is Matyushenko’s first match in the UFC since his September 2003 loss to Andre Arlovski. He will be taking on the debuting Pokrajac. Pokrajac has been the training partner of heavyweight striker Mirko Cro Cop for the past decade. Not only is this his first fight in the UFC, but also his first fight in the states, but don’t let that turn you off to his abilities. He’s an excellent striker, with the conditioning, who’s also good on the ground. Matyushenko may be the favorite in this one, but he may just get upset.

Prediction: Pokrajac via TKO

Light Heavyweight Contest: Eliot Marshall (7-2-0) vs. Jason Brilz ((17-1-1)
Both men remain undefeated in their UFC careers; Marshall landed a unanimous decision over fellow Ultimate Fighter cast member Vinicius Magalhaes. Brilz scored a unanimous decision of his own over Tim Boetsch. Both of these men are good on the ground and have a good amount of submission victories to their credit, so it will be interesting to see which fighter comes in with the better game plan.

Prediction: Marshall via unanimous decision

.......................................................................................

Welterweight Contest: Rick Story (7-3-0) vs. Brian Foster (14-3-0)
You can guarantee the southpaw Rick Story is coming into this fighter hungry after losing a decision in his UFC debut to John Hathaway. Getting a win may not be an easy task as Brian Foster who’s riding a three fight win streak is making his UFC debut looking to make a name for himself. Foster’s last two victories have come via knockout, but Story’s great conditioning and punching power may play spoiler in Foster’s debut.

Prediction: Story via TKO

.........................................................................

Lightweight Contest: Rafaello Oliveira (9-1-0) vs. Nik Lentz (18-3-1)
Both fighters are making their UFC debut in what is arguably the most talented division in the UFC. Oliveira was originally scheduled to fight Dan Lauzon in his debut, but due to an injury Nik Lentz because a late replacement. Oliveira is very dangerou s on the ground, but has also proven to be versed and extremely aggressive on his feet. Lentz on the other hand has great takedown defense, and has some very strong kicks.

Prediction: Oliveira via submission
