October 29, 2009 - It is getting harder to take care of our children in this downward economy. The national leaders keep reporting an uptick in the economy as Alabama's unemployment rate soars.
Alabama is now number 10 in the nation of states with the highest unemployment rates. Jobs are scarce. These numbers only count the people who are actively drawing unemployment compensation benefits. It does not include the number of unemployed who have exhausted their benefits without finding work. And it does not count the people who have taken part-time jobs as a last resort.
Alabama's rate of unemployment is 10.7 percent. This is the highest it has been in over 24 years. This as the Birmingham Mayor is found guilty on 60 charges. All involving money to line pockets.
The federal politians receive benefits and raises as the Senior Citizens have to live on retirement benefit rate set over a year ago.
We will have to become more frugal in parenting and more creative at making ends meet.
