Hairstyle Collection - John Paul Mitchell Systems®
Vintage Suppression by Lunatic Fringe Salon

Paul Mitchell recently unveiled a new collection of five hairstyles which brings vintage inspired photography and wardrobe into the present time with modernized hair and makeup techniques.

The "Vintage Suppression" collection was brilliantly created by the Lunatic Fringe Salon Artistic Team and Paul Mitchell artists Steven Robertson, Janae Johnson and the Lunatic Fringe Salon artistic team.

Inspired by photography’s evolution since its origin by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce in 1825, the Lunatic Fringe Salon artistic team recreated the style of early portraiture transitioning from the formal,
expressionless poses to the buttoned-up attire.

The modern twist was expressed through vivid color as well as movement of the hair, utilizing variations of finger wave techniques.

Listed below is Vintage Hairstyle #2 in the Vintage Suppression Collection with step by step instructions for re-creating.  This hairstyle may require advantage practice sessions to guarantee a seamless design.

If you have limited hairstyling expertise you may wish to print the image and ask your professional hair expert to design a similar style for you.

Steps To Recreate Vintage Hairstyle

1.   Wash tresses with Paul Mitchell Instant Moisture® Daily Shampoo and condition with Instant
Moisture® Daily Treatment.
2.   Rinse hair well and finish with a cool/cold water rinse to close cuticles and amp up natural shine factors.
3.  Towel blot hair and apply appropriate detangler and defrisant products.  Start at the bottom of the strands and detangle slowly using a wide tooth comb or pick.
4.  Once hair is completely detangled prep hair with Paul Mitchell Super Skinny® Serum.  Apply from right below the roots to the ends.
5.  Blow dry hair completely straight until hair is 100% completely dry.
6.  Separate hair into two sections with a deep diagonal fringe parting created with a pick or tail of a comb.
7.  On the top section of the head take 1-inch sections parallel to the part, apply heavy backcombing
and smooth into looped barrel style shapes.
8.  Pin and spray the new barrel curled style shapes with Paul Mitchell Extra-Body Firm Finishing Spray™.
9.  Set bottom section of hair in vertical barrel curls using hot rollers.
10. Unroll the completely cooled hot rollers and pin the curls back into their original shapes.  Let hair cool for 10 - 30 minutes.
11.  Unpin the barrel curls.  Brush out and set hair into dry finger waves or deconstructed waves.

To Finish
Back-brush remaining hair and mold into ball. Bobby pin the hair ball into place.  Finish by spraying the entire hairstyle with Paul Mitchell Hold Me Tight™.
