An undercover investigation of a Vermont veal slaughterhouse revealed disgusting and disturbing abuses of the animals.  The slaughterhouse closed with alleged abuse allegations.

The Associated Press uncovered US Department of Agriculture records which revealed that Bushway Packing Inc. of Grand Isle, VT was inspected and temporarily closed by the inspector in May, June and July of this year.

The Humane Society of the United States released the following VERY graphic footage of the slaughterhouse.  It shows days old male calves being kicked, shocked with electric prods, dragged and cut while conscious.

According to the AP, Michael Markarian, the Humane Society's chief operating officer, says two calves appeared to be skinned alive.

Bushway Packing has been certified organic.  Organic certification currently does not cover many aspects of animal welfare, including packing and slaughter.
