How to take your summer wardrobe into fall
As the weather in Chicago becomes cooler, it can be difficult to choose exactly what to wear to keep comfortable. Not to mention, there's no telling what the temperature at your office will be.
With temperatures fluctuating in the 40's and 50's, it's brisk enough outside to get chilly, but you're by no means ready to bring out the wool sweaters, as we typically save those for the winter months--when the weather dips below freezing in Chicago.
However, there are a few simple steps to help take your spring and summer clothing into fall by just adding a few different accessories.
1. Add a scarf: Keeping your neck and chest warm, even while indoors, often goes by the wayside. You can still wear your short-sleeved tops if you add a scarf to cover you up top. Plus, if your arms get cold, treat it like a pashmina and wrap it around your shoulders and upper arms.
2. Break out your boots: Don't pack those knee-length skirts away quite yet. Add a sleek knee-high boot to any skirt or dress ensemble and your legs will stay nice and warm. You could even wear trendy ankle boots and add funky tights, too. And wait, there’s more--your dressy wide-leg capris will look cute paired with knee-high boots as well.
3. Don't pack away your tank tops: You can simply add a blazer over a cami for a warmer outfit while still looking professional. Try a cardigan and add a belt for a little fun. Extra chilly that day? Add a scarf, too.
4. Slip into leggings: Your tunic dresses can be taken through the fall season with a little help from a great pair of leggings. Need a longer length? These leggings for tall girls are sure to stretch all the way down to your ankle.
Tip: When in doubt, add an extra layer. You can always keep a sweater coat at work or in your car just in case.
