Americans will flock by the thousands to Fort Hood Military Base this afternoon at 1 p.m. CST to honor the dead in last Thursday’s tragedy in Texas. President Obama and Mrs. Obama plan on being in attendance as well as numerous politicians and government officials. Air Force One is said to arrive at 11:30 a.m. with numerous heads of state inside.

Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates,Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen, Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey and Army Secretary John McHugh are said to be in attendance. Many lawmakers expressed extreme interest in attending the service such as Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), Sen, John Cornyn (R-TX), Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI)..etc. All 13 families of the deceased are confirmed to be present at the memorial.

KFDA-TV reports, “The ceremony will include a prelude, sermon, music and a 21-gun salute. Lt. Gen. Cone will make a speech, followed by army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey Jr. and President Obama.” The Dallas Morning News writes, "When Barack Obama stands today before the mourning children, spouses and comrades of those cut down last week at Fort Hood, he will confront one of the most delicate and painful duties a president undertakes. This is by far the biggest test of Obama's ability to fulfill the role of consoler in chief."

Rasmussen Reports finds that 45% of American voters give President Obama the highest marks on National Security and just 37% give him a poor rating. However, after this heartrending event at Fort Hood and the discovery that U.S. Intelligence officials might have known the Fort Hood shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, had tried to contact people within Al-Qaeda, it's safe to say President Obama should have a new main priority on his agenda.

Do you think President Obama will take action and passionately address the issue of National Security?
