The public health department is offering another round of vaccines on November 21 at 9:30 am
Santa Clara County Fairgrounds
Expo Hall
334 Tully Road
San Jose, CA 95111
This is a priority clinic. Those who qualify to be vaccinated (while supplies are still short) are pregnant women, people who live with or care for infants younger than six months of age, health care and emergency medical personnel, anyone from six months through 24 years of age, anyone from 25 through 64 years of age with certain chronic medical conditions or a weakened immune system.
The nasal spray and the shot are both available. Pregnant women will receive thimerosal free shots. Children nine and under will need to get two doses, about a month apart.
Be prepared for a long wait. During the November 15th vaccination, people began lining up at 3am. The most prepared people brought blankets, chairs, hot drinks, food, warm clothes, reading materials, toys for the kids, even laptops! The parking lot did not open up until around 5am. Those who arrived before that ended up parking quite a distance. At seven am workers announced that those saving a place for family members needed to make sure the family members arrived by 8:30 or they would have to go to the end of the line.
Additional H1N1 articles: H1N1 and breastfeeding, H1N1 vaccine for children (includes information on who should avoid the vaccination and what to watch for after receiving it), Should you get the H1N1 vaccine if trying to conceive?
