I quit, The first show that displays Americas intellect and I'm already running away from Hollywood like someone wants to lock me in a room with Tatiana! Point blank there's no way that either Jorge or Jasmine should have been sent packing and heres why......
Let's start with Jasmine Murray. She's cute as a button, extremely relevant to the Y generation, and sings well, well beyond her years. Her version of "I'll Be There" could easily be a hit single even after Mariah covered it in the early nineties. The judges are constantly talking about relevance and acting your age. Was she supposed to sing "ABC" by the Jackson 5? The truth is she nailed it, even on tonights show, I feel for you Jasmine, that wasn't at all deserved.
Then there's Jorge Nunez. Did anyone in America listen to the smooth tones he displayed singing 'Never Can Say Goodbye?" Again, the song could easily be a top ten hit on radio RIGHT NOW! Jorge's genuineness, humbleness and excitement all made for an extremely interesting storyline on the show, oh and by the way America, the cat can sing!!!!
Safe and sound however were Anoop Desai and Megan Joy, both of which completely tanked their vocals on last nights show. Certainly they both can sing but isn't Idol about who performs each and every night and NOT about who has potential?
Frankly, I like the new rule where the judges can actually save a vetoed contestant by a unanimous vote this year. It may add a bit of drama here and there which simply makes for good television. Some other points worthy of mention was the Jackson 5 medley that started the show. It was the first time that I didn't hate a group performance in eight years. I think it was because a Jackson 5 medley is fun and young and not to be taken that seriously!
Lastly, Can I vote Kelly Clarkson off the show? She looked horrible. Why do they insist on airbrushing her all over every magazine? I was blown away that she has sold more records then Chris Daughtry or Carrie Underwood, will someone verify that? Then again, this is America.
