This Saturday there will be a PTQ for Pro Tour San Diego at the Knights of Columbus in Charlestown, MA.
If you have never attended a major Magic: the Gathering event, this is a great one for you to go to. The format is Limited Sealed Deck, with top 8 draft. Players will not have to worry about obtaining playsets of pricey singles for your deck. Everyone will be on equal footing as they will each recieve six booster packs of Zendikar and create a forty card minimum deck from the pool of cards they open.
The first place winner will also recieve an invitation and airfare to compete in Pro Tour San Diego.
There will be other prizes based on attendance.
Registration begins at 9:00 am in the morning with an entry fee is $30.00, and the tournament will start at 10:00 am.
There will also be a free booster draft for the first 16 amateurs who drop from the event, as well as other side event drafts.

The Charlestown location seats over 400 players, has more parking, and is less then a 10 minute walk from the Orange line platform of Community College.

"Tournament Structure
The structure for Pro Tour Qualifier tournament will be modified Swiss-style, with the Top 8 players playing in a single-elimination format for prizes and invitation(s).
Tournament Format
The format for Pro Tour–San Diego Qualifier tournaments is Sealed Deck with a Top 8 Booster Draft.
* Sealed Deck Product: 6 Zendikar boosters per player
* Booster Draft Product: 3 Zendikar booster packs per player
* Deck lists are required
* If product is not stamped or pre-registered, deck registration and deck swap will be performed for the Swiss Sealed Deck.
Tournament Length
Swiss rounds - 50 minutes per round
Number of Swiss rounds based on attendance according to the following chart:

Advancement
All players may participate in all Swiss rounds.
The top 8 players after the final Swiss round will advance to the top 8 single-elimination finals.

Top 8 matches will have no time limit
Where necessary, the standings after the Swiss rounds will still be used to determine final order in the standings.
All Universal Tournament Rules and Magic: the Gathering Floor Rules are in effect for this event unless specifically overruled by information in this Format Document
Players must bring pen, paper, card sleeves and appropriate counters.
Invitations, Eligibility, and Prize Money
Players already holding an invitation to the Pro Tour are prohibited from participating in any Pro Tour Qualifiers, with the exception of Grand Prix tournaments. Players may have earned invitations through cumulative past performance in the Pro Tour, winning a previous Qualifier or Grand Prix tournament, or by being an invited DCI player (valid upon the date of the official ratings invitation announcement for the appropriate professional tournament)."
