Selling puppies and dogs from shelters instead of puppy mills or breeders is a simple yet revolutionary idea still in its early stages and one more pet store is adopting this new business model.
One pet store owner, Shannon Anderson of Pets Delight in Covina, is changing her business practice after 25 years of selling puppy mill dogs. She didn’t realize or understand before that her actions were contributing to the pet overpopulation. Nor did she truly realize the horrific conditions puppy mill dogs were living until Last Chance for Animal’s Kim Sill took her to the shelters.
More than one million purebred puppies are born and bred into puppy mills every year, packed in tiny cages, neglected and sick with little or no human interaction and then sold to pet stores throughout the country. On September 18th the National Geographic Channel will re-air the powerf
ul episode of Dog Whisperer that exposed shocking conditions at these puppy mills when Cesar joined LCA for an undercover mission.
Pets Delight is now reformed and has replaced its puppies in the window with shelter and rescue dogs; so when you ask how much is that doggie in the window you can do so unashamed knowing you’re helping to re-home a dog or cat from a shelter!

Your help is needed to assure its continued success. Do not buy products from pet stores that carry puppies from commercial breeders.
