Big colorful coffee books are carefully placed in many homes across the nation, and for dog owners and lovers these books are so much more fun and significant when they showcase some eye-catching petography of Jim Dratfield.
Jim Dratfield has some high profiled, wealthy clients and it can be somewhat expensive to get him to photograph your precious pooches. However, with his books, which are really affordable and readily available, everyone can have some Dratfrield petography in their home.
Not surprisingly Rufus, my red smooth miniature dachshund, and I love his Da
y of the Dachshund book, but really all of his books are fun and beautiful. His newest book, Pugnation: The Bark is Back!, a sequel to the wildly successful Pug Shots, will be coming out in time for the 2009 holiday season and I already have it on my Christmas list for many of my pug friends.
“The response to the finished pictures is one of the most rewarding aspects of this job,” says Jim Dratfield. “People are delighted, overwhelmed enough sometimes to shed a tear or two. I believe that many things touch us throughout our lives, but it’s often our pets that are there for us in good times and bad. Petography gives people a way to remember those times-and those pets-forever.”
At home on his small farm, Jim and his wife Chiara can be found being walked by their canine companion, Sawyer, “The Great Vacuum Dog” (who is more of a Labrador Eater rather than Retriever), playing with their two adopted cats, Teo and Emma, and constantly being reminded of the wonders of life by their toddler son, Phineas.
