Shadow

Welcome to the Scottsdale Dog House... we've got the scoop on K9 news.

Calling all big dog lovers!

Shadow is larger than life with colossal size paws, a massive body, and a heart that is bigger than the world. This four-year-old Great Pyrenees and Alaskan Malamute mix arrived at the Arizona Humane Society because…you guessed it… he was too big and the landlord didn’t approve.

Shadow displays the best of both the Great Pyrenees and the Alaskan Malamute breeds. He is extremely loyal and devoted, well-mannered, dignified and intelligent. He will do anything for a faithful human friend that he loves and respects.

Although Shadow is gigantic, he is a gentle giant who is extremely laid-back and mellow. He doesn’t ask for much from his new family; just a warm place to call home with a very large doggie bed, occasional walks and an endless amount of love.

Shadow is past that rambunctious “puppy stage,” and he isn’t as rowdy as he once was, but he still enjoys a daily promenade around the neighborhood where he can get some fresh air and explore. He likes napping in a grassy and shaded yard on a nice cool day, but when it is warm outside this fur-ball would much rather take a long nap on the cool tile floor inside.

Since Shadow is such a big dog, a dog introduction is highly recommended to ensure that your current canine gets along with him. It is always a good idea to bring the whole family (including the kids) down to the shelter to mingle with Shadow to be sure that he will blend in with the family. He hasn’t been around cats, and he will need a slow introduction.

You can adopt Shadow NOW at the Arizona Humane Society’s Nina Mason Pulliam Campus for Compassion, 1521 West Dobbins Road in Phoenix. His adoption fee is just $100. This fee includes his neuter surgery, vaccinations, a colorful collar and leash, an AHS I.D. tag, and a free follow-up veterinary examination. For more information about Shadow, please call (602) 997-7586 Ext. 1045 and ask for animal ID number A265895 or log on to www.azhumane.org.

Please note: This pet might have been adopted by the time you visit the shelter; however, the AHS has dozens more wonderful pets that also need loving homes. Please take a moment to meet some of the other dogs, cats and other companion animals at the shelter! To see all our adoptable animals right now, www.azhumane.org/findapet.
