One of the wonderful things that can happen to people who finally get rid of excess clutter in their homes is that they end up losing excess bodyweight too. It's probably because they can now focus more on themselves, instead of stressing over their household clutter.
Peter Walsh, author of "Does This Clutter Make My Butt Look Fat?", believes that the secret to successfully losing weight is to forget about calorie counting and weekly weigh-ins. He adds that when it comes to clearing clutter (the fat in our homes) it isn't about the stuff itself, it's about the life you want to live. The same is true for losing weight: It's not about the pounds, it's about living the life you deserve in the body you want.
If you are overweight and are also working on getting rid of the clutter in your home, pick up a copy of Peter Walsh's book for motivation and support at your local Baltimore area bookstore, or shop online at Amazon.com.
Adding some form of activity to your schedule is always important, regardless of whether or not you're living in clutter. However, I recommend that you don't wait until the New Year or when the clutter has gone to begin your weight loss efforts - start today. With less weight, you'll have more energy to tackle the clutter and more importantly, maintain your newly organized space once the clutter is gone!
