It's been rumored about since last week's expansion draft. Today it's finally official: the Philadelphia Union has acquired keeper Chris Seitz from the MLS champion Real Salt Lake for allocation money.

While the amount of money has not been officially disclosed, last week's initial report in the Salt Lake Tribune estimated the Union gave RSL "north of $200,000" for Seitz.

The Union already selected keeper Brad Knighton from the New England Revolution in last week's expansion draft, and manager Peter Nowak has said only that Seitz will have a "chance to compete" for the starting keeper spot. But it's hard to believe that for all the effort and allocation money laid out to land Seitz that he's not the odds-on favorite to win the job.

Getting rid of Seitz was a logical move for RSL, who just won the MLS Cup in large part due to starting keeper Nick Rimando's stellar performance.

A 22 year-old California native, Seitz was a standout for the University of Maryland and played for the US Under-20 and Under-23 Men's National Teams. In seven career MLS appearances, he notched a 1.86 goals-against average.

Far be it from me to advise Nowak on player development, but I recommend the Union get Seitz a Netflix account ASAP. According to his Real Salt Lake bio, Seitz's favorite movie is...Man on Fire. Really? Man on Fire? Of all the films in cinematic history, Man on Fire?
