Solo Vino was found in Mesa, beaten and left for dead.

I would really like to know what kind of person beats and leaves a horse for dead. Or any animal for that matter. It's an act of cowardice, and is generally done by a person that society can easily do without.

Which is why we ask that you report any act of cruelty - even if you're not sure it's cruelty...

But back to the horse. According to Amaris Saldate, the person who found the beaten animal, "The horse was bleeding from the head, his legs severely swollen, and his hooves overgrown. "His gut was caved in from starvation." said Saldate. They christened the animal Solo Vino, Spanish for 'came alone'.

"Solo Vino needs x-rays and possibly surgery, but the costs could run $2,000 dollars.   If he is euthenized, the cost will still range between $600-800 dollars, more than either woman have."

In this economy, it's tough to donate, but if enough people can part with a few dollars here and there, this horse can survive. The vet stated that Solo Vino, "hit so hard, it broke his skull and a fragment remains inside."

In addition, the animal's forelegs were severely swollen, and its hooves were severely overgrown. A farrier has donated his services to repair the hooves.

You can call 480-966-0624 and donate directly to the East Valley Equine or contact The Equine Voices Rescue and Sanctuary to donate at the organization's website. Specify that the donation is for the "Solo Vino fund".

And let's get this person or person(s)...
