One of the abandoned dogs now at Furrytale Farms (KOMO4 News)

A woman brought 6 dogs, in horrible condition, to Suzannah Sloan at Furrytale Farms, a home for unwanted animals.  She dropped  the dogs there saying that they had been abandoned on her property, and she left, without leaving her name.

The woman left more than terribly neglected dogs; she left dogs in need of expensive medical attention. One of the dogs has massive mammary tumors across her abdomen, another has an injury that has caused paralysis, yet another has a poorly healed jaw that was most likely broken. The vet care needed tops $20,000; a figure out of the reach of the small rescue organization.

Pasado's Safe Haven is stepping up to help with not only the medical for these neglected dogs, but also, to launch an investigation into the person or persons behind their horrific condition. Sloan suspects that these dogs are cast-offs from a puppy mill; dogs no longer needed or useful.

Yet another case building against puppy mills. The people running these operations do not care about dogs, they care about money. Do not buy puppies from pet stores, do not buy puppies from backyard breeders who aren't concerned with the health of their dogs and their puppies.

A reputable breeder will show you the parents. A reputable breeder will screen for health problems and genetic defects. A reputable breeder will not over-breed their dogs and then callously toss them aside. If you must "buy", do your research first.

If you are interested in adopting (or donating to) one of these dogs, please visit Furrytale Farms. Take a moment to look at their website while you are there; it's truly heart-warming.
