Puyallup - Today I visited the Puyallup Metro Animal Services to share some photos of their available dogs for adoption. To be perfectly honest, visiting animal shelters is extraordinarily difficult for me. The longing eyes, fiercerly wagging tails and blatant desire to be touched literally makes my heart ache.
However, I am hopeful that the sharing of this article with my readers will lead to the adoption of these homeless dogs. Please take a moment to look through the slideshow of the dogs. When you are done, please post this article on your Facebook, or Myspace, profiles. Forward the article on to your friends and family....you never know when the right person might be reached.
I asked if any dogs were "scheduled" for euthanasia. I was told that there is no set time. Dogs are euthanized when there is a lack of space, or if the dogs become ill while at the shelter. In otherwords, it's a roll of the dice to predict the amount of time that these precious souls may have.
I can tell you that each dog in the shelter greeted me with happy barking, soulful eyes and a wagging tail. Little Tugger (only 6 months of age) was simply endearing and his coat is the most beautiful shade of copper. He tried to press his little body through the wire to be touched.
Saucy and Meatball were darling, however, one of the two (I am not sure which one is which) was clearly depressed over the situation.
Bella is lovely, but I fear that she will be the victim of the dreaded "black dog syndrome" that causes too many black dogs to be overlooked at shelters. A shame, as she is beautiful, and clearly affectionate. Another sweet girl who tried to press her head into my hand when I reached out to touch her.
Ramsay looks like a fun little clown and has amazingly blue eyes and beautifully, unique coloring. Again, he appeared to be affectionate and longing for a pat on the back.
Gus is a big boy who looked like he belonged on a huge, round dog bed in front on someone's fireplace, or by his family's side as they hunt for a Christmas tree in the snow. He too, pressed his body to the cage to be near my hand when I took his photo.
The reality is that most readers are unable to adopt. But you are able to share this article with others, who in turn can share with others, until perhaps, the right people are reached. Let's try to get these beautiful pups to a real home for the holidays! Adoption fees are $95 and include: Spay/neuter, microchip and vaccination, and license. You can visit the dogs at 1200 39th Ave. SE, Puyallup, WA.
