Now that you have your new puppy there are some important things you need to do.
Socialize your puppy. Teach new skills.
Socializing your puppy is necessary to help them to get along with other dogs as well as people. A great way to socialize is to take your new puppy to obedience classes.
Obedience class allows your puppy to interact with other puppies and people too. Your puppy will learn valuable skills to have a happy life, such as… Sitting and staying are some of the other essential skills your puppy will learn in class. Walking on a leash properly is another important skill that your puppy will learn however, is one that takes a lot of time and effort.
Keep your puppy safe.
You may think that keeping your puppy in crate is unfair or cruel. But in reality a crate is the safest place to keep your puppy when gone. So make your puppy’s crate a happy place and never associate with punishment.
Get your puppy vaccinated.
Most importantly your puppy needs to get all three sets of vaccines from your veterinarian. The first set should be given at eight weeks of age and includes the distemper combination and the bordetella vaccine. To complete all three sets these vaccines need to be repeated at 12 weeks of age and 16 weeks of age. They are also old enough for their rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age.
A happy and healthy puppy is wanted by all dog lovers. By following the guidelines above you give them a great start to life.
