So here I sit in prison... aka, the coffee shop where I write... and all I can hear is the wind outside, giving a roaring preview of the rains to come. And yea, though this very week has been fraught with weather of the autumnal variety, I still muse wistfully that fair summer has not yet fled this land for good. Yet, alas, I'm probably full of it.
Seems like we're in Fall for good now. And while we may still encounter that one 4-day stretch of hotness near the end of the month, you can be fairly certain that the chill is here to stay. "With the warmth of summer rapidly retreating, what ever shall become of my weekends of youthful frivolity and raucous cavorting, my lord!?", one might ask. (That one being a regular viewer of Frasier?) Well, I would suggest that all is not lost, and that the party does not have to end. Indeed, the festivities just keep getting better. And while you may now have to wear jeans and a long-sleeve, reversible, two-button thermal henley, there are just as many opportunities for outdoor entertainment in the temperate months of September and October as one might have found in July.
And in all honesty, you'll probably sweat quite a bit less, so we're all winners here.
But where to start, with so much going on in the coming weeks. Of course, there's the Maryland Renaissance Festival down in Crownsville, which is currently running every weekend through October 25th. Or maybe we should talk about one of the upcoming Oktoberfest gatherings. So much to do! With that in mind, I'll keep it simple and stick with the happenings this weekend - and there is definitely enough to keep you busy and make you forget that summer ever existed.
Well, not really (especially if it rains), but there should be some good times to be had. And what more can we ask for?
Put your hands down! It was a rhetorical question.
Anyway, here is the short list of interesting goings-on in the nearest of futures:
So that's one heck of a big weekend ahead of us. Food, music, beer and the great outdoors (in the city).
And you thought summer fun was over. Silly Baltimore.
See you there!
