Beer is awesome.
Seriously. Beer has powers, man. I mean, it can totally alter things... perception, reality, etc. And I'm not just talking about the change that occurs when you've consumed one too many. That change is powerful, but hardly unique. Any old spirit can effect that sort of transformation. A good bottle of scotch, as well as a bad batch of moonshine, will work just fine.
But if you want a beverage that can change the fabric of time... for that, you need a beer.
How does that work, you might ask? Well, I can't quite explain the physics here, but suffice it to say it involves quantum mechanics, celestial positioning and the Pax Nicephori. (You probably shouldn't ask.) But despite the mysterious nature of the sorcery inherent in the fine ales and lagers of this fair land, its impact will be felt by many during this coming fortnight.
To put it simply, for the next 11 days, Charm City officially celebrates Baltimore Beer Week.
Yes, you heard me right. Beer "Week". 11 days. Bending the very fabric of the space-time continuum. Through this quirk of nature, during the "week" from Thursday, October 8th until Sunday, October 18th, the best in brews will be scattered throughout the city for your pleasurable consumption. An enormous collaboration among local brewers and beer afficionados, the inaugural Baltimore Beer Week offers so many events and specials and tastings and whatnot that one might be overwhelmed with the stuff. Whether or not you have the time (not to mention the stamina... or the financial wherewithal) to celebrate the entire week, it's good to know that the opportunity exists. So to save you a little time, I've compiled a "short list" of activities that have already sent my mouth a-waterin'...

You get all that? And that's just a HINT of what's in store for Baltimore Beer Week. Feel free to check out the daily schedule here and peruse the myriad tastings and other brew-infused happenings all around the city... courtesy of the magic of beer.
If you can figure out how to harness this power so that I can somehow attend ALL of these events, feel free to share. I'm buying...
If not, feel free to join me at a few of them anyway - but you'll have to pick up your own tab. Sorry. It is one hell of a long week.
