Michael Jackson lip-synced his way through his past two tours. In his This is It movie, it was pretty obvious there was some lip-syncing or enhanced vocal edits done. Yet, he is considered a "brilliant" performer.

Britney Spears lip-syncs her way through her latest Circus tour and the world (well, maybe just Australia) is about to end. Why is it okay for one performer to lip-sync while another one is condemned for doing the same thing?

There has always been misogyny in the recording industry. Anybody remember in the 1980's when Prince was considered a groundbreaking stud for his use of sexuality and Madonna was considered a slut for doing the same thing? Even in 2009, ageing, veiny, scrawny male entertainers are considered okay while female entertainers such as Madonna are constantly told to retire.

Let's face the truth: Anybody who is going to a Britney Spears concert expecting incredible singing and musical showmanship is going to be disappointed. In fact, is there really anybody going to a Britney Spears concert who expects this?

Britney Spears is an excellent entertainer. Her fans don't want to see her play piano and warble her notes. The Australian press should be ashamed for their current witch hunt.
