J-Lo and Carrie Prejean: with sex tapes and sexting, love can go awry

Carrie Prejean made a video for her boyfriend when she was a teen-ager.  It seems the ex-boyfriend released the tape to the press.  Let's hope his name surfaces so women can put him on the "Danger" list.

In terms of a sex tape, Prejean made have been ahead of her time.  Right now sexting and sex tapes are running the Internet gamut with teens. "Sexting" Shockingly Common Among Teens - CBS News

It is becoming so commonplace that the Huffington Post reported last week, "Investigators and prosecutors on Thursday warned of the dangers of electronically transmitting racy images and words at a hearing organized by Rep. Anastasia Pittman, D-Oklahoma City, into the practice of "sexting," distributing nude or seminude self-portraits over cell phones.

"Sexting alone just by itself will land a kid in jail," Pittman said. "They are not aware of the implications, the consequences. It's their future that we're trying to save."  'Sexting' Targeted In Oklahoma Hearing

But it is not just teens who are sexting as we learned from The Bachelor: Cheater, cheater: bachelor pick sexting his ex, Bethany Steffen

The sex tape explosion - couples in love and then....

For some reason, there seems to be an explosion of sex tapes, and too often it occurs that a tape made by a husband and wife, or a couple in love --  suddenly surfaces when the relationship goes awry. In the latest sex tape scandal, just minutes after Carrie Prejean we learn of a sex tape made by J-Lo and her first husband some 10 years ago, as reported by our Sex Scandal Examiners: Jennifer Lopez sex tape under wraps pending court date .  And it was not so long ago that we were reeling over rumors of a Rielle Hunter and John Edwards sex tape.

Here is just a tiny sampling of sex tapes that have been surfacing:

• The Silvio Berlusconi sex tapes
• Top five celebrity sex tapes

The invasion of privacy

Right now the practice of sex tapes is becoming so common that it is even taking place in private, without one's knowledge or consent. I encourage all women to read this article from Kate de Brito's blog – it is a bit disconcerting, but eye-opening. I_think_he_taped_us_having_sex. This "boyfriend" taped and shared!

From my perspective, here are a few things to consider about boyfriends that appear to be into porn or who joke about sex tapes.

1. Set up a no sex rule in his house and only share intimacy at your place, a bit controlling, though.
2. Insist you are into feng shui and can’t bear to have a TV screen staring at you, so you cover it with a sheet then make certain there is no remote in sight.
3. Hide every remote or clicker in the room.
4. Or simply be honest and say – “If I find out that you are taping us I will either call my brother the Sumo wrestler to visit you, or call the police.  My brother might not be as kind as the police, but at least you won’t be in jail.” 
5. If you are the least bit suspicious of your date based on conversations, better be safe than sorry.  Kiss him good-bye.

One more thing – if by chance you enjoy being taped having sex, be absolutely certain  that when you leave the place, you have the only copy held tightly in your hand. In this day of sexting images -- I would be super careful to protect my privacy.
