Devo plays "The Moore Theatre" this Sunday at 7:30. The American "new wave" band formed in Akron, Ohio, are best known for their 1980 hit "Whip It", which made it to #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The group married humor, electronic music with quirky beats and sarcastic humor to deliver a set of catchy pop songs that was coupled video and a robotic stage show. The members of the band were often outfitted in yellow jump suits that appeared to look like they were designed to protect one from nuclear fall out. Devo was one of the first new wave bands to embrace the video medium before rock videos were the vogue in the early 80's.
